There’s no business like show business! The Raleigh Charter theater community is excited for their two productions, “Rhinoceros” and “Little Women: The Musical.” “Rhinoceros” will be starting its run on November 5 and “Little Women: The Musical” on March 5 this coming spring.
“Rhinoceros,” a play by Eugene Lonesco, is set in a small French town where all the citizens turn into Rhinoceros, except for one man who refuses to conform.
Theatre critic Rhoda Feng of the American Theatre describes it as “anxieties about what it means to remain fully human” and how it examines the idea of conformity versus resistance.
“Little Women: The Musical,” is the Broadway musical adaptation of the beloved book “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott and follows the March sisters on their adventures, set in Civil War America. The musical is a romantic and dramatic comedy and is enjoyable for everyone who goes.
“For me, the performance is the most exciting part of the experience, but being with my friends is a close second,” says sophomore Kathryn Preddy, makeup and hair stylist technician for “Rhinoceros” and actress for “Little Women”.
When asked why Raleigh Charter students and families should attend the two productions she commented, “People should come see the RCHS drama shows because all of the effort put into it and it always ends up being a great show. It is also a great way to support the school.”
Other students were also looking forward to the shows. Sophomore Isabella Kaylee Sandoval, commented, “I’m excited to see my peers and friends in the show.” Another student, Vyom Shashank, was also eager, saying “It’s a really great way for me to support the school and it’s entertaining as well.”
The RCHS productions are sure to be showstopping! Make sure to keep an eye out for ticket sale announcements and mark your calendars for “Rhinoceros” and “Little Women: The Musical” and support your Raleigh Charter Drama program!
