AP Tests-What They Are and The Importance of Them

You might have noticed the teachers roaming around with their fingers pointed against their lips and “Be Quiet” signs posted all over the school. This is because of AP tests!

AP tests stand for Advanced-Placement exam and are created by College Board. They are known to be notoriously difficult and very troublesome, many students study for more than a month for this test. The scores can range from 1-5, with 5 being the best.

Many people argue that AP exams are too competitive and put too much pressure on students, just to impress colleges, but the exams give students insight on university workload and difficulty. It allows them to not only prepare and have an easier time in the future, but it helps them improve their time management and complex skills.

The hardest exam is AP Physics 1 and C. Many students at Raleigh Charter High School take this class and prepare for this exam fairly early.

Derrick Lee, a senior at RCHS shares his thoughts: “At first, I was hesitant to take AP Physics, as I didn’t want my senior year to be stressful. However the class taught me how to think critically instead of just memorizing formulas, and I am glad AP exams are finally over!”

Now that AP exams are finished for the year, students finally have freedom and relief to have fun for the summer and the rest of the year! How are you going to spend your summer?
