It is the time of the year where students are stressing over trying to study for the SAT or the ACT. Students have the option to take either the SAT or the ACT, but some people take both. These tests are a big deal and are taken seriously by students as they study vigorously until test day.
What are the ACT and SAT? Why are they so important?
The ACT and SAT are standardized tests that the majority of students take to submit to colleges and universities they are planning to apply to. These tests measure students’ skills in reading, writing, math, and, for the ACT, science as well. It is a part of what colleges use to evaluate an applicant and strong scores can also help students earn scholarships.
They are important because they can play a major role in the college admissions process since many colleges use these tests to measure a student’s academic capabilities. It helps them determine the readiness for college-level work and to compare all the students who apply from different schools and backgrounds.
Since they are so important, students are stressing about preparing and getting good scores. “This upcoming ACT is my last attempt before I have to submit my college application, so I’m stressed,” said senior Sebastian Cobb.
Junior Sahana Ravikumar said, “I’m taking both the SAT and ACT. I’m spending so much time preparing for them and I’m so scared because I need to get a good score. I don’t want to take the tests more times than I need to.”
In the spring, Raleigh Charter students take the ACT for free at school. This gives all students the opportunity to take the ACT without having to worry about the registration and fees.
In conclusion, the ACT and SAT are important because they give students a chance to show their academic skills. They can help students get into colleges, earn scholarships, and create more opportunities for their future.
Even though they are only a part of a college application, they can still make a big difference in helping students reach their goals.
