As the leaves start to fall, the Student Government Association has been working to organize fun fall events for students at Raleigh Charter High School. Instead of pep rallies, RCHS does things a little differently and organizes activities for students to participate in. Over recent years, HOCO has always been the favorite event of fall, but that doesn’t mean other events aren’t exciting.
Yana Strygin, RCHS alum, says “The activity I loved most with RCHS in the fall was pumpkin carving after school! I thought it captured the beautiful spirit of autumn: the colors changing, the autumn breeze, the pumpkin spirit, and getting to hang out and laugh with friends and peers in the Triangle!”
The pumpkin carving event also provided some decoration for the school at the same time, “I also loved seeing all the pumpkins lined up the next day and seeing what people came up with,” Strygin commented.
The costume contest is also a big favorite. Senior Bella Thompson noted that she liked the costume contest best after participating in it and dressing up for multiple years now.
The reason it’s enjoyed by many is because students get to dress up and then teachers who are chosen as judges, vote for the winning costumes.
Students also have recommendations for fall events that could be fun.
Thompson recommended that having a caramel apple event could be exciting. And Strygin also mentioned, “If I could recommend a new fall activity at RCHS, it would be an autumn movie night with a variety of snacks and everyone dressed in their most autumny clothes! I think that could pair well with a nice autumn walk or field trip.”
