Title/Headline: Quality or Quantity?: Comparing Hungry Howie’s Pizza to Mike’s Pizza

Have you ever been at a grocery store and had to choose between buying one high-quality item or a pack of several items that aren’t quite as good?

It’s a dilemma many people face when trying to decide whether quality or quantity matters more. Students at Raleigh Charter are facing this same choice, and their opinions may surprise you.

Last year, the students were happily enjoying Hungry Howies pizza for school lunch, which was a small pizza with either cheese or pepperoni. It was a chain-american style pizza with soft, buttery, thick crust, with mozzarella and tomato sauce that has a sweeter profile.

However, this year there has been a switch from Hungry Howies to Mike’s Pizza, which includes 2 large slices of pizza with either cheese or pepperoni. It’s more of a New York style pizza with a thin crust with a sauce that’s a bit sweet and salty.

Why the switch? We don’t know, but we do know how the students feel about it. Senior Isabella Thompson states that “the pizza isn’t as shareable anymore.”

Senior Mia Thompson says that, “the pizza tastes better, but there is less portion.”

Junior Dhruti Gadde, agreed about the smaller portion size, stating that “it sucks because you get less portions but still have to pay seven dollars.”

So even though people like the taste of Mike’s Pizza more, they miss the larger portion of Hungry Howie’s. So the next time you’re eating Mike’s pizza and you’re still hungry, you can always go to Phoenix Foods located in the drama room, where they have tons of snacks for one dollar each.
