7th period health class: What are the pros and cons?

Most people might expect seventh period health class to bring students a bright start to their day, but students that are taking this class are in between if they like it or not.

The 7th period class, which carries a fee of $550, has been part of the RCHS program for some years now. Some people let their kids take this class for their health and start their day with some adrenaline after working out. But some kids would prefer not to start their day this way.

According to senior Aarav Vasudevan,”It’s good, but some days I ask why I took this class and some days, it’s not too bad.”

He also mentioned 7th period health as being a class where students can save up some room for an extra AP class instead of taking it during one of the six main periods.

This is a clear benefit to taking this course, even if that means paying to take it earlier.

Health teacher Mr. Russell said, “I love teaching this class because I am already an early bird and I get to leave early too because I start early.”

Many people are not aware that this early morning is an option, so parents and kids should be aware there are benefits and drawbacks in deciding to take this class.

It can help students save room for other courses during the regular school day and provide an energetic start to the morning, guided by an enthusiastic teacher. On the other hand, signing up means committing to waking up and arriving at school earlier, and paying a fee to take the course.
