Over the years, Phoenix fest at Raleigh Charter High School has become a big event held towards the end of the year. Looking in from the outside some people might ask,“What exactly is Phoenix Fest?” Well, Phoenix Fest is a day where Juniors and Seniors do presentations that they have worked on with their classmates and deliver to younger students.
These presentations are held on a variety of different topics even though there are five categories for them. The five categories are Academics, Culture, FEST, Community, and Experience. These presentations can involve activities, teamwork and being exposed to different aspects of life. In past years, Phoenix Fest has had many interesting presentations and activities, such as Formula 1: Mario Kart Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, Digital Music Design: How to make beats and Sstart Creating Your Own Music, Flavors Across Borders: Asian Appetizers, and many more. In these presentations people gain the opportunity to receive an experience that is unique from the Culture Fair.
In these past years the pandemic has changed how Raleigh Charter High School has hosted Phoenix Fest. During the year of 2020 where the world had to quarantine in our homes, Phoenix Fest was hosted online. Raleigh Charter used the Zoom app to host all their presentations for Phoenix Fest. During the 2021-2022 school year as we were transitioning from online back into the classroom students presented in masks. They also implemented social distancing which did impact Phoenix Fest for a while. However after the masks came off and school returned to a sense of normalcy, Phoenix Fest has improved significantly. In the future it seems that every presentation has become more unique than the last from the past years.
