9th Grade Students Take on the Role of Recreating Artifacts From Thousands of Years Ago!

Raleigh Charter’s 9th Grade Class of 2029 has accepted the challenge. They will recreate artifacts from various cities around the world. These artifacts date back thousands of years.
The exhibits included cities that were tied to the Silk Road. It was a trade route that brought together many religions and architectural innovations. Much more was also shared along this route. This caused cultures and religions to spread. They moved to places other than their originating cities. People still practice them in these new locations today.
These artifacts were on exhibit along the exterior of Raleigh Charter. Many parents, faculty, and other RCHS students see their work. They also learn more about the artifacts.
Rain couldn’t stop the fun, and when RCHS was surprised with showers all day, the museum just moved inside. Artifacts, people, and booths filled the classrooms and hallways. The students worked hard and brought them to life. They demonstrated the true talent of Raleigh Charter.

Each group consisted of 3-5 students who worked together to uniformly display their artifacts and alternate presenting to parents, teachers, and other students about the artifacts in the group. Above on the top you can see an example of what a poster looked like on the tables with the artifacts displayed nicely on the table.
Each student had a different thing that they enjoyed about the artifact, whether it was working in groups on the booth, making the poster, writing the essay, or creating the artifact at home! “I learned so much about how maps came to be so popular, and all the different types of decorative architectural finishes. I would have never known about this if I had not done this project!” said freshman Quinn Patrick.
Each year, the teachers enjoy looking at all of the artifacts that their students had made.Honors World History teacher Mrs. Martignoni said, “I was a little concerned at the beginning of your projects, but I was glad to see the masterpieces you guys ended up creating! …Each year we are so excited to see all of our students research and tell the class and others how much they have learned!”
Just wait until next year to see what the next freshmen RCHS class will make!
Summing up the liveliness of the learning experience, freshman Rhea Victorien said, “I am going to miss the artifact fair! It was so much fun!”
