Senior Night Showdown

Raleigh Charter High School’s women’s soccer team senior night has finally happened! A perfect night to remember for our senior girls with a major win, yummy food, funny and cute posters, and proud family members and teammates.

The women’s soccer team closed out senior night with a dominant 9-0 win over Neuse Charter, with the game ending early due to the mercy rule midway through the second half. A strong finish for our seniors!

After the victorious match, the focus shifted to celebrating our seniors. Each senior walked across the field with their parents in a post-game recognition, marking their final home game. The field holding memories of their first year of high school soccer. Many seniors also made funny posters to honor their accomplishments, years of dedication, and of course, a keepsake to mark the end of their high school soccer season!

The team also held a small celebration with pizza, drinks, and cupcakes, giving everyone  a chance to spend time together after the game.

Isabella Thomspon, a senior on the soccer team shared,

“I think I’ve learned leadership and organization skills that I didn’t anticipate developing which will hopefully further develop in college and my career and also help me in similar teams settings, not just in sports but also school and work projects.

“ I’ve also learned how to work with leadership above me even when I don’t agree with all decisions made and sometimes I see the benefits of their de visions down the road and other times I don’t, and in both cases I think its helpful in sports for team unity purposes and also in life in general to learn to recognize authority and to know when to speak up and when to respect their leadership even when you don’t agree.”

Bennett Flynn, a freshman on the soccer team said of the team’s seniors, “They’ve been really supportive and funny, and they set a good example, both on and off the field, so my perspective has changed a lot.”
